The 5 Types of Bulldogs on a Walk (Which One Is Yours?)

As Bulldog owners, we all know… no two walks are ever the same.

Just like no two Bulldogs are the same. Each one has their own agenda, their own quirks, and their own way of doing things.

And when it comes to walks… that personality shows up fast.

Some pull. Some stop. Some refuse to cooperate entirely.

The question is — which one are you dealing with?

1. The Tank

Every walk starts the same way — explosive energy, full confidence, like they’ve got somewhere very important to be.

They’re pulling, leading, making decisions… you’re just along for the ride.

For about three minutes.

Then, without warning? Total shutdown. Mission abandoned.

If you’ve ever thought, “Wow, this walk is going great today…” — this is why.

2. The Sniffer

Bulldog sniffing plants closely while on a walk, wearing harness and investigating scents

This one isn’t in a hurry. Not even a little.

Every step is a stop. Every stop is an investigation. Every smell has a story that must be fully understood.

You might only make it halfway down the block — but they’ll know everything that happened there in the last 24 hours.

For them, the walk isn’t about distance.

It’s about the details.

And apparently… this exact leaf needed 45 seconds. 😁

3. The Negotiator

Everything is fine… until it’s not.

One minute you’re walking. The next? Full stop. They plant themselves and look at you like you’ve completely lost the plot.

“What do you mean it’s time to go home?”

“No, no… we’re not done here.”

“I want to stay. I want to play. I want to exist right here for a while.”

No barking. No chaos. Just a calm, stubborn refusal — backed by unbreakable eye contact.

This isn’t a walk anymore.

It’s a negotiation.

And you’re losing.

4. The Zig-Zagger

This one has no plan. No direction. No pattern.

Left. Right. Stop. Cross in front of you. Back the other way. Repeat.

You’re not walking a straight line — you’re adjusting in real time.

Now you’re being pulled sideways like a shopping cart with a broken wheel.

Every step is a new decision. None of them make sense.

This isn’t a walk.

It’s a hot yoga class you didn’t sign up for. 😅

5. The Sit-Down Specialist

Everything is going fine… until it’s not.

No warning. No buildup. Just — sit.

Right in the middle of the sidewalk. Like they’ve just clocked out for the day.

You look down. They look up.

“We’re heading home now.”

No, we’re not.

You can encourage. You can tug. You can try your best motivational speech.

But deep down, you already know…

This isn’t a break.

This is a stance.

And unless you’re carrying 50 pounds of stubborn… you’re going to be stuck here for a while.

🐾 Bulldog Truth

Walking a Bulldog isn’t really a walk.

It’s a series of negotiations, detours, and unexpected full stops… all loosely held together by a leash.

Somewhere between the frustration and the shenanigans, you start to realize…

This is just how it works.

And for some reason, you wouldn’t change a thing.
